A'kin products

I decided to try this product range as my hair is in a very very terrible state and I’m desperate to have one thing on my body going for me! from head to toe.. my hair is a mess, my face has acne, my boobs…uhm lets just say I’m breastfeeding…my tummy? yeah just had a baby inside it so stretch marks and  loose skin is what is going on there…. my thighs and legs well… i need a full body wax…Time if only I had time…. oh i managed to just about paint my toe nails today…so i can show those off  in slippers… lol. Anyway back to the purpose of this post.. Akin product review…. enjoy.

I bought the Akin shampoo, conditioner and vitamin masque all for dry damaged hair. My hair is pure African hair, its dry and damaged from a failed home relaxer that i did last year in February. Before i started, i wet my hair then cut off as much of the relaxed ends as i could with the help of my husband..(he wanted to get the clippers out!) any way so this review is on African natural hair for those that are obsessed with “hair type” i would say I’m 4a or 4b hair type.

A'Kin Shampoo[A'Kin] Rice Aminos and Wheat Protein intensive moisture shampoo (for dry, damaged and hair that needs extra care) = This shampoo has a semi strong i would say lavender smell, its clear and not too thick like some shampoos i have tried. The instructions at the back say use a small amount…well i tried that but i needed to add about say three tablespoons in order for my hair to be fully covered in shampoo. It didn’t later up too much maybe because of the oil on the hair. So i rinsed that a bit then did a second shampoo which i only needed one tablespoon and that felt too much. It lathered up very very well and i gave my head and hair a well deserved wash. Hair felt alright as it should when wet and washed. so for this first try… I didn’t notice a very big difference. After washing and towel drying i added the conditioner.
A'Kin Conditioner[A'Kin] Macadamia and Wheat Protein treatment Conditioner (for damaged hair and split ends or intensive care)=This conditioner also has a slight woody smell, is white and quite thick, so i found it hard to spread easily through my hair… i had to use quiet a generous amount to get all my hair coated. I then used one of my big combs to spread the conditioner into my hair and down to my scalp as the instructions say. gave myself a mini head massage (bliss) then rinsed it off. after the rinse my hair felt just as it did after the shampoo so i put that down to the PROTEIN in both products. After towel drying my hair, i added the Vitamin masque.
A'Kin Masque[A'Kin] Ginkgo and Jojoba intensive moisture Vitamin Masque (for hair that needs extra care). This has a wonderful smell which reminds me of sweets at the fair…lol. It is as thick as the conditioner so i had to apply a very generous amount as my hair is thick. Instructions say to leave it from anything from 5 minutes to 30 and even over night for an intensive treatment…well i decided to go for long haul…OVERNIGHT, i must admit i hate the feel of sleeping with wet hair but my hair is in need. So after application, i decided to twist my hair just to ensure an even coating. i placed a shower cap on my head and we shall get the results tomorrow….

Results..
Hair felt slightly hard, not the very softness ones feels after a deep conditioning treatment and I put that down to the Protein content in the products.  I have so far been using the [A'Kin] products for two weeks and even though I don’t shampoo my hair everyday, I wet it everyday in the shower and add a bit or either the A’kin conditioner or the A’kin masque…might be over doing it, but my hair is damaged and I really want to kick start the repair process. I will start using the product once a week next month in June.
So my overall impression of the [A'Kin] products? THUMBS UP!!! My hair needs the protein for it to stop breaking easily. I’m loving them. hope to post some photos of my hair soon.
