Scented Goodie Box Sampler Review.

I came across this product range from one of my many Internet research for good quality natural products for hair and skin. From the on set, I loved the website. It just looks delicious, it gave me and still gives me that warm cosy feeling just looking at it. The products look so so nice that you can almost feel them working just by looking at the picture… I HAD TO TRY THEM! So i looked through the site read about their products and as I couldn’t buy them all, i was well impressed when i found they had sampler boxes! (God Bless them for that!) so I clicked and ordered one of their scented Goodie boxes the Monoi de Tahiti range.

My wonderfully deliciously packed goodie box arrived bright and early on a Saturday morning and i couldn’t wait to open it… but i had to take some photos just for you…

In the box, I got 2 Creamy café latte vanilla butter, 2 Monoi de Tahiti whipped butter, 2 Rhassoul mud deep conditioning cubes and 1 Dark Chocolate Lippy pucker. As its a goodie box sampler, you get enough for maybe 2 to 4 applications depending on the length of your hair and how much you want to smell like chocolate!

I will review the products on looks, scent, feel, ease of use and my opinion on how my hair and skin feels after application.

So first up we have the Creamy Café latte -Vanilla sample. Its like a leave in lotion that you can use on your hair and skin too! Its for dry hair

Looks – oily and abit grainy
Scent – very very nice soft coffee smell (latte)
Feel – very very light and silky
Ease of use – immediately turns to light oil when rubbed so very easy to apply and it sinks into the skin and hair so well
Feeling after application – Hair felt fine- normal not too soft not too dry… BUT it smells wonderful ;-)

Second we have the Whipped butter Monio de Tahiti sample. This is a leave in cream for your hair.

Looks – abit grainy but ordinary looking
Scent – smells like a hair product (the fragrance is bold)
Feel – very thick and greasy
Ease of use – turns to oil with more rubbing but doesn’t immediately sink into the skin or hair, it feels as though its just lying on top and you feel it when you rub your fingers together.
Feeling after application – hair felt coated with the lotion and I didn’t really like that.

Third we have the Rhassoul mud deep condish treat sample. Two cubes of solid conditioner that you have to melt.

Looks – solid chocolate cubes that anyone can pop into their mouth without a clue it was NOT EDIBLE
Scent – deep dark chocolate smell
Feel – before melting very solid but after melting it, you can feel the oil.
Ease of use – (used half a cube as my hair is very short). Bit messy as you have to crush cube in hot water. Melted reasonably alright though i might have put abit too much water.
Feeling after application – Hair felt greasy and coated immediately after application and after leaving it in for an hour, hair felt softer but still coated.

And lastly we have Lippy Pucker dark Chocolate.  Lip balm

Looks – nice and thick
Scent – warm chocolate
Feel – very light on the lips, feels it would last you the whole day – I LOVE IT
Ease of use – just glide onto lips and pout! lol!
Feeling after application – great, light not too greasy or heavy, lips feel soft and I want to kiss my hubby now!!

Trail one:- I used the Rhassoul mud deep condish treat and the creamy café latte

First I cut one cube of the Rhassoul mud in to half (As my hair is short i felt that would be enough). Placed the half cube into a bowl poured in some hot water and carefully crushed it with a fork. I added abit more water and mixed as well as I could. I noticed I needed to heat up the mixture so as to melt the cube thoroughly.

After the mud was melted, I washed my hair with Aubrey organics shampoo, scrubbed with baking soda and rinsed with vinegar mixture (100ml water plus 100ml vinegar) then a final deep rinse with water.

After the vinegar rinse, my hair felt very very clean, NO OIL what so ever as I really wanted a clean base for the product trail. I towel blotted my hair then gave the conditioner a mix and poured it into my hair rubbed it in well covered my hair with a shower cap and left it on for an hour while I did some house cleaning.

After an hour, I rinsed my hair with warm water thoroughly as per instructions. I noticed my hair was not shiny or bright as it was after the vinegar rinse, it was more dull looking. I Bolted dry the hair and applied the creamy café latte. Even though my hair felt greasy after rinsing out the conditioner, i felt i needed to add the moisturizer. I combed and left my hair alone. DONE.

Overall opinion
I felt the mud preparation process was abit too messy as I’m used to just squeezing a cream from the bottle and straight onto my hair rather than boiling water, crushing and mixing.
The mud mixture felt greasy but I guess its the solid butters that make the mud (Organic unrefined Cocoa butter and the organic unrefined Murumuru butter) which need heat to melt them. When rinsing my hair after leaving it in for a hour, the water was a brown color thanks to the 100% Organic Green & Blacks Pure Cocoa powder (CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!) so I had to keep rinsing till the water run clear. After that, I blotted dry my hair and I wasn’t too impressed with the look and feel of it- dull and abit greasy. I then applied the Creamy café latte and combed. Hair feels alright not overly soft or greasy.

I give the two products…. 6 out of 10 for this first trial.
